Meet the Manager of

Manor Cottage Residential Home

We recently caught up with the manager of Manor Cottage Residential Home, Rayna. Rayna works at our fantastic care home in Frenchay, Bristol and talks about what she loves about care and what her role entails.

What does the role of a Manager at the care home entail?

I am responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations within our care setting, following the standards and regulations of CQC. Leading a dedicated, hardworking, compassionate team. Making our resident's lives as comfortable as possible, promoting independence, and dignity, and empowering staff and residents to ensure our residents are safe.

How and why did you start working in the care industry?

I started off working in care over 17 years ago, I started working in a nursing home, and I loved the difference and impact I made on their days. It is such a rewarding job.

What do residents find hardest about the transition to care, and what will you do at MC to help this?

I believe the hardest thing is leaving their own home, MC always encourages any resident to bring in whatever items they wish to make it as homely as possible for them. We encourage each resident to voice their wishes, choices and preferences which empowers them that their care is centred around them.

What do you think is the best aspect of MC

Being a big happy family 

 What is your favourite part of your role?

Seeing our residents smile, going home knowing I have made a difference in someone’s life however small.

How do you spend your free time?

Spending time with family and friends, and love a bit of retail therapy I also like reading books.
