Ten Warning Signs of Dementia

Dementia is more than just memory loss, did you know that dementia symptoms can vary from person to person? ??

1. Dementia can impair the ability to make good decisions, including choosing appropriate clothing for cold weather.

2. People with dementia may struggle to assess distance and direction while driving a vehicle.

3. People with dementia often face difficulty managing their finances due to their inability to understand numbers and what to do with them.

4. Dementia patients face difficulty reading basic words and may use incorrect words, leading to confusion while communicating. They might also struggle to understand others.

5. Dementia can cause confusion in recognizing familiar places, leading to difficulty in navigation. It can also make people believe that they are back in the past time of their life.

6. Dementia patients can struggle with preparing meals due to difficulty in following all the steps involved. This may result in an incomplete serving of food.

7. People tend to forget appointments sometimes, but those with dementia may forget things frequently or not remember them at all.

8. Misplacing a wallet or keys is common, but a person with dementia may not recognize the purpose of the keys.

9. People with dementia may confuse people in their memories, or combine two or more memories. Sometimes they think an old one is a memory.

10. Dementia can affect a person's ability to taste and smell, leading to a preference for sweet or salty foods and a dislike for familiar, once-favorite dishes.
