Supporting people living with dementia requires a high level of competence which includes competence in emotional and empathetic skills, respecting people as unique individuals, just one of Kew Care Group's stand-out qualities for all residents. And having the confidence to challenge negative attitudes associated with dementia.

Our manager Mel and the senior carer Tracey at our Westbourne Care Home have both passed and completed an 11-week course to achieve their certificate for Dementia Lead and a Dementia Link award.

The role of a dementia lead/link is to drive and support change. Which requires close support of other staff within the home to develop knowledge, understanding, and practical skills delivering an action plan that utilises their knowledge and skills, enabling staff to support best practices for the residents living with dementia.

Well done Mel and Tracey!
