Each year, the Queen celebrates two birthdays - her real birthday on 21 April and her “official” birthday in June. Traditionally, the Queen marks her actual birthday rather privately, spending it with her family.

This is our photo salute to the queen as she marks her 95th birthday. Usually, this second birthday involves the Trooping of the Colour but Covid has stopped this again this year. The two birthdays for Monarchs started with the Queen's great grandfather, Edward VII who wanted a big parade but had his birthday in November. So he chose a summer date to celebrate! Our residents took part in their own celebrations to mark the queen's birthday, with an afternoon tea and a glass of wine.
