Popular Penpals Post - what a week we have had!

We have had the most brilliant week with a news piece on local BBC television, on the local radio and shared around the world on social media! On Tuesday our wonderful Activities Co-ordinator T’yanna Robinson, at Cleeve Lodge, Downend, Bristol, made a facebook plea "Penpals Wanted". The response we got was just amazing with 2,400 shares of the post and people offering to write to our Residents from Australia, South Africa, Belize, Germany and Ireland, as well as a great many from our local community. We have had interest from schools, clubs, individuals and groups and our Residents are over the moon. As you will see from the photos below, some of the Residents who wanted a Penpal wrote down their own interests so that people with similar likes could link up, for instance, Margaret is looking for a penpal who likes travelling, Pat loves ballroom dancing and knitting and John likes animals and singing. We had particular enthusiastic responses to Inge who asked for a penpal who can speak German and Brian who loves Star Wars and Star Trek! 

We have already received so many letters and cards and have been busy replying. We will be sharing some of them with our other homes as we can't keep up with the flow at Cleeve Lodge. All the Residents love receiving a letter and it really makes their day when the post arrives!
