Smiling Matters - oral healthcare training

CQC are prioritising oral healthcare recently after a study they did found that 73% of care plans in care homes that they reviewed did not have a proper oral mouth care section. All our homes have always realised the importance to communication, socialising and eating of having a healthy mouth. Staff support our residents with mouth and teeth care and we have thorough paperwork in line with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidelines. Two of our staff at Green Willow have been busy with additional training to ensure that we are completely up to date and they will be feeding back to the teams at each home.
