Irish White Soda Bread

  • 350g plain white flour
  • 11/2 tsp salt
  • 1tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 285 ml buttermilk

  1. Preheat oven to gas 4.
  2. Dust baking tray with flour.
  3. Mix all dry ingredients together. Tip the buttermilk and stir to combine.
  4. Keep stirring until the ingredients come together as a dough, then form a ball.
  5. Place the ball of dough on your baking tray and cut a deep cross in the centre- this helps the centre of the bread to cook properly.
  6. Dust the loaf with a little flour and place in the oven for 30 minutes.
  7. Serve with butter and a meal of your choice.
