Interacting with animals can have social, physical and emotional benefits, whether this means spending time with a pet or doing activities alongside animals, such as horse riding. Residents at our Westbourne Care Home haven't taken up horse riding, but they did have a visit from some Shetland Ponies. Horses make wonderful therapy animals they are gentle and incredibly intelligent the residents really enjoyed their presence in the home. Meeting and stroking the ponies proved a very exciting sensory experience, it took place in the lounge area, those that weren't able to make it to the lounge had personal visits in their rooms.
